Learning to Behold
Hello Fellow Travelers!
I thoroughly enjoyed making memories with family over the Christmas holidays, though some of those memories were tinged with melancholy over loved ones who are no longer with us. Whether your holidays were joyful or not, I pray that the God of all comforts traveled with you as you celebrated the season.
I have also enjoyed what will probably be my daughter’s last extended visit home. She graduates in May and is planning to settle in Indiana where she has been attending college.
All that to say, my priorities have not included writing. So today is just a sneak peek at the topic we will explore this year.
Though many people choose a word to focus on throughout the year, I have never done so. However, as I spent time with the Lord over the last few months, I felt drawn to choose one this year: κατανοέω (katanoeō), which is most often translated as “behold” in the New Testament.
If you were to ask my family, particularly my husband, about my powers of observation, they would laugh. I have none. Most of the time I am lost in my own thoughts rather than being fully present to my surroundings. Read or listen to Enlighten the Eyes of My Heart to hear about a more extreme example of this issue of mine!
I look forward to what the Lord will ask me to behold this year!
